The deer seem to have found a new spot this year. After a couple of days of walking and driving in the Ballangen area we’ve not come across them.
We have seen a lot of moose (elk). More than we saw last year. We even spotted one paddling in the fjord opposite the cabin. We’ve also seen a lot of sea eagles. And...sea otters. Those guys are seriously happy chaps. They are always playing. Rolling around in the water with big grins on their faces. They remind me of the dogs...when they play fight. Though the otters seem to actually like each other and don’t end the playing with bared teeth. Yesterday we managed to walk another 17km. Once you get going the pain from the previous walk soon wears off. And last night we had another fantastic display of aurora colours. Just a shame the moon is so bright and high in the sky. It would have looked all the more stunning in a darker sky. But that’s the thing about the aurora...there are a lot of considerations. Today we went out for bread. The shop is that far away that’s about all we could fit in. And now we’re waiting and watching. One eye on the Aurora EU predictions and the other out of the big window. Stu has a third eye. Not sure what he’s got that on. Today’s photo is the best that Stu could get of the otters that we spotted yesterday. They were far too giddy to pose for photos...
