...the man from Parcel Force arrived with two mattresses, two pairs of tough gloves and some big wire cutters.
We've been busy. So busy my unFitBit thinks it's on someone else's wrist. But we still haven't made a start on the work inside the house. The big things: rewiring and plumbing. Until those are done we can't begin the 'decorating' (new kitchen, plastering, new bathroom etc.). This house is one big project. But we knew that as soon as we spotted the wood chip wallpaper when we first viewed. We have made a big start on the outside space. We've torn down an old wood store and ugly hedge. We've started to clear overgrown borders. And we've had two huge bonfires. We've learned from the locals that you burn everything. Obviously not aerosols. We thought we had got them all. Until the fire exploded and a canister flew into next door's field. Luckily none of us were nearby at the time. And the sheep were over the other side of the hill. So no damage done, thankfully. The paddock is starting to look more like a paddock and less of a dumping ground. So...how do I feel now that we're twelve days in? Wonderful. If I ever had any doubts they are gone. How can we not be happy when we can sit in the lounge and watch a kite circling very low over the garden. Or the many birds (and bloody squirrel) feeding outside the window. Though to be fair. I do need to get used to dust and mud. For the next few months at least. I've never washed my hands so much. The skin looks like it has been transplanted from an elephant. We have a very long haul ahead. It's going to be messy and expensive. But we're up for the challenge. The best bits so far...
No photo today. The internet is so shite - nothing will upload.
