On the whole...this past couple of weeks have been wet.
Firstly, the outside stop-tap blew...causing a mini flood in Ted's yard and no water in the house. Fortunately Welsh Water came to the rescue pretty quickly. Then we needed to drain the hot water cylinder - as we're getting a brand new boiler etc. What we didn't expect was a shower in the kitchen. Seriously I did contemplate stripping off, standing in the bucket I was using to catch the water and washing my hair. It took at least an hour for the cylinder to completely empty. (We know that this is not the usual way to drain a cylinder - but nothing at all about the plumbing in this house is what anyone in their right mind would consider normal) Thankfully that is almost the last of the dodgy plumbing. Next week we'll be up and running on Stu's newly plumbed in pipework. And we should have hot water again, a plumbed in dishwasher and heating! Better news this week was the family (Simon, Kath, Matthew and Molly) who stayed next door. Turns out they're moving to Wales and needed a bolthole while they wait to complete on their new house. We're already on fresh eggs and madeira cake terms. To be honest we're going to miss them. It has been so nice to be able to wave at the 'neighbours', have a chat over the fence...and gather at the front to watch the milky way and shooting stars. And finally this week - the nasty belfast sink from the kitchen has been put to good use...
